It's not about doing it perfectly, it's about understanding how to navigate the shifts 🩸

I hear so often that my cycle is not regular or what do I do if I am late /early.

Here's the thing....

It's not about doing this perfectly. It's about having a tool that simplifies the experience of getting to know your body and how you feel it in. It's about understanding that everything you are experiencing is information that can help you de-code why you feel the way you do (physically, emotionally, energetically) and what you can do to feel balanced that day or week. Keep an open mind that you are not perfecting this experience, but rather giving yourself the breathing room to the act of "Being" in your life today, rather than always being in a "Doing" state.

My Experience this last menstruation:

So, my last bleed days did not go as planned, nor as I would mentor women on how to care for themselves.

The day before my bleed days were to begin, my dog got seriously ill. I was cleaning up non stop vomit, doing load after load of laundry and on the phone with the vet non-stop. It was late nights at the emergency vet, little sleep, mothering three kids and falling apart emotionally every few minutes. While my stress was over the top, the very next day my mom's dog was injured and now they were on their way to the city to get him assessed. So now I have a sick dog, an injured dog and my parents coming to stay with me while I am on my period (something I don't do because I usually take this time to nourish myself). Instead, I was caring for a full household.

So much was out of my control and my stress had not been this high in years.

What happened....my body responded to the crisis. I was three days late (something that never happens), I was incredible sensitive to criticism, highly reactive and losing my temper. My bleed was shorter than normal and I knew that I did not care for my womb AT ALL this menstruation. AND...I didn't panic at any of this...I knew this was my womb's way of reacting to the crisis and so I just showed up with compassion to myself as I moved through these few days.

But here is the thing and what I shared in the Sisterhood - I did not show up as I knew my body needed me to, but I am fully aware that I actively had to make that choice. Sometimes this happens...things are out of our control and we just need to know that it will be ok...surviving is always the first priority. I am fully prepared that when my next inner fall comes (luteal phase) that PMS might be really bad and that my next period may be painful. My lack of care this period will set the stage for the clearing that will need to happen next bleed.

Here's the golden nugget....because I know this, I am prepared to do some deep care in the last week of my cycle. My expectations for myself are lower and I am going to take some down time to really care for myself so that I can bring my body back to balance after being unbalanced.

This is magic...this is the beauty of getting to know your body and what your womb needs from you.

So show up perfectly imperfect in your cycle. It's about understanding so that you can support it as it moves through life.
