Episode 69: Managing Endometriosis with Britt Joannides

Endometriosis affects roughly 10% of women globally and can take 4-11 years to diagnosis from the onset of symptoms. For women suffering with endometriosis it is both physically painful and emotionally exhausting.

In today’s conversation with Britt Joannides, we discuss her experience of discovering she had endometriosis and her journey into managing this diagnosis. We also dive in to how she discovered the Fertility Awareness Method (and fell in love with it) as a way to understand her body and her symptoms.

In this episode we explore:

  • The journey of coming off the pill and how this helped her diagnosis her endometriosis

  • The impact of nutrition on her symptoms and how she had to make the hard choice to move away from her vegan diet

  • The importance of looking at emotional health, cyclical living and stress management for menstrual cycle health

  • The power of Fertility Awareness Method and who can benefit from this technique and who may not

  • Getting her husband involved in learning how to track her cycle with her

  • Why the menstrual cycle is our 5th vital sign and how it can impact our health

Britt Joannides is a chiropractor from South Africa, currently living in the UK. Outside of chiropractic, she has a HUGE passion for women’s health and spreading information about the menstrual cycle and hormonal health. She works part-time as a Fertility Awareness educator where she teaches women how to track their cycle to avoid or achieve pregnancy naturally. She is also currently training as a menstrual cycle coach which will later be offered as a service for her business, Cycle Centric. Britt is in the process of creating a women’s health focussed chiropractic hub where she will integrate her FAM and cycle coaching into. She also has a free private WhatsApp group for women to share, connect and support one another where she and guest speakers host various workshops for the group.
